If you’ve ever looked at boudoir photography and thought, “That’s beautiful… but it’s not for someone like me,” please take a deep breath with me for a moment.
Boudoir is for every woman. Every age. Every size. Every background. Every story. Every body that has lived, healed, survived, grown, changed, or carried the emotional weight of life.
When done through a compassionate, women-centered lens, boudoir becomes not just photography but a place of self-acceptance.
So let’s talk gently, honestly, and with a lot of heart about inclusivity in boudoir, and what it really looks like inside a studio that is built for women just like you.

Boudoir Is for Everyone — Especially the Ones That Feel “Not Good Enough”
So many women whisper the same worries:
- My body doesn’t look like it used to.
- I’ve gained weight.
- I have scars.
- My stomach isn’t flat.
- I’m too old for this.
- I’m not sexy.
- I wouldn’t know what to do.
If any of those felt familiar, you’re in the right place.
Boudoir is not about chasing a fantasy version of yourself. It’s about honoring the version of you who exists today. The body that carried your children, survived illness, and supported others. The one that has endured heartbreak, worked long hours, and simply grew through life.
At Carmen Salazar Photography, we pride ourselves at creating an inclusive boudoir studio. We welcome all women with curvier bodies, postpartum bellies, stretch marks, mastectomy scars and sexual identities.
Nothing disqualifies you from being worthy of beautiful, tender imagery.

Boudoir Is for Women in Their 30s, 40s, 50s & Beyond
You don’t “age out” of boudoir. Ever.
Many women don’t even feel ready to do something like this until they’re older. After they’ve lived enough life to realize how quickly time passes and how rarely they stop to honor themselves.
Women in midlife often come to our studio for a number of reasons, but some always remain the same. They’re learning to love their bodies again. They’re rebuilding confidence. Celebrating a milestone. Finally taking a moment for themselves after decades of being on the backburnerer.
We see our clients as beautiful no matter what age and what scars they have. We don’t see a number, we see a gentle soul who is ready to shine.
Boudoir Welcomes All Backgrounds, Cultures & Identities
A nurturing, inclusive boudoir studio honors your identity with intention.
Inclusivity isn’t just about saying “everyone is welcome.” It’s about creating an environment where women feel comfortable being exactly who they are, without needing to hide or shrink parts of themselves.
For our team, that means showing inclusivity by offering makeup for all skin tones. We respect modesty and cultural boundaries and how looks different for everyone. We welcome traditional headpieces and clothing. We encourage bringing things that hold value and are symbolic to you.

Boudoir Is Inclusive of Sexual & Gender Identity
At our studio, inclusivity isn’t just a value — it’s a lived practice. We welcome women across the spectrum of sexual and gender identities, including queer women, trans women, nonbinary clients who feel safe in women-centered spaces, and anyone whose identity feels affirmed by a femme-focused environment.
We understand that identity can be deeply personal, tender, and sometimes complicated, especially for those who haven’t always felt seen or celebrated in other spaces. Our goal is to create a session where you can show up exactly as you are. No judgement.
You deserve a space that honors your whole identity, your story, and your lived experience with softness and respect. In our Sacramento studio, you’re not just welcomed, you’re embraced.
Boudoir Can Be Healing for Survivors — When It’s Done Gently
Many women who walk into boudoir studios aren’t coming in at their highest moment. They’re often carrying the weight of life’s hardships. We’ve had many women come into our Sacramento studio who were grieving a loss, navigating divorce, recovering from domestic violence, and healing from illnesses.
For survivors, boudoir can be deeply emotional. That’s why our team uses trauma-informed methods to make sure women feel say and supported while they’re in our studio. This means no touching or making adjustments without consent, allowing breaks, holding space for tears that might stream out. We will absolutely never pressure you or force you to do something outside of your comfort zone.
Boudoir is not just about being seen, it’s about being seen safely.

Boudoir Is Inclusive of Disabilities & Health Conditions
Weight is a sensitive topic for many. There’s a stigma with boudoir that you have to be a certain size or look a certain way. Even when our clients go to Pinterest to look for inspo, they tell us there really isn’t that much out there that matches what they’re going for.
This is why we have a client inclusive lingerie closet that has sizes from Small to 5X. We have high heels from size 5 to size 11, and every half size in between.
Our photographers know how to find the perfect posing that flatters your body type, rather than trying to fit you in a mold.
Boudoir Is Emotional Inclusivity
Maybe the most important part of your boudoir experience. During your session, you’re allowed to feel nervous, excited, self-conscious, and unsure. You may also feel brave, hopeful, and proud.
There’s a large range of emotions that come along with boudoir. We totally understand that you’re putting yourself out there in front of strangers. That’s so BIG.
We welcome you and embrace you wherever you may lie on that spectrum. You don’t have to pretend you’re feeling confident. You can 100% be honest with us about how you’re feeling.
Our team will do their best to make you feel at east throughout this experience.
